How to set 3 redundancy SIP server on Yealink phone

Description

In the version of V84Yealink phones support redundancy of 3 servers on fall back mode(on the web portal only present 2 SIP servers). When server 1 and server 2 are both down, the third server will replace them as an insurance.

Please note the third fallback server can only be configured by auto provision, it won’t show on the phone website.

Resolution


1、Set the parameters for the third server in the configuration file.

You may take this for example:

account.1.sip_server.1.address = 10.100.9.100

account.1.sip_server.1.transport_type = 0

account.1.sip_server.1.expires = 120

account.1.sip_server.1.retry_counts = 3

 

##SIP Server 2##

account.1.sip_server.2.address = 10.100.9.101

account.1.sip_server.2.transport_type = 0

account.1.sip_server.2.expires = 120

account.1.sip_server.2.retry_counts = 3

 

##SIP Server 3##

account.1.sip_server.3.address = 10.200.108.48

account.1.sip_server.3.transport_type = 0

account.1.sip_server.3.expires = 120

account.1.sip_server.3.retry_counts = 3

 

account.1.fallback.redundancy_type = 1

account.1.fallback.timeout = 10

The  parameter “account.1.fallback.redundancy_type” configures the registration mode in fallback mode.

And the permitted value is 0 and 1:

Concurrent registration, when it configures to 0, the phone will register to SIP server1 and SIP server2 at the same time.(it is not applicable to the third SIP server)

Successive registration , when it configures to 1, the following server will be triggered when the server ahead of it was down.

 

 

2、Push the configurations as above into the phone by auto provision.

 

3、You may do a test when the configuration is done.

I have attached a pcap screenshot as a reference:

SIP server1: 10.100.9.100 (unavailable)

SIP server2: 10.100.9.101(unavailable)

SIP server3:10.200.108.48(available)

 

As you can see from the screenshot, the phone will send a register request to the SIP server1, then according to the order, SIP server2 follows, if it can’t work either, the phone will send request to the SIP server3. And also try to register to primary and secondary server if they are working.
