[YMCS/YDMP] How to add phones to YMCS easily?

Description

When users firstly test YMCS, the first question must be — How to add phones to YMCS easily? Here we will introduce some methods on how to single and batch add phones to YMCS.


Resolution

For New Phones:

 

For the phone which is just out of box, please add the SN and MAC to YMCS under Device Management-> Add device

 

1/upload single device
A.    Uploading manually.

Please go to Device Management->SIP Device->click Add Device, then fill in all the information.

image.pngPlease note here, if you wish this device sync to RPS at the same time, please turn on ‘’Sync to RPS’’, and the ‘’Unique Server URL’’ must to be filled in.

 

2/upload batch devices

Please go to Device Management->SIP Device->click to download the template.

Filling in the excel with MAC and SN number of the phones then upload again.

 

In the template, if you wish to sync the device to RPS, please choose yes under’’ Synchronize to RPS’’, and fill in the corresponding URL (this scenario is suitable for both the situation that all phones’ provision URL are the same or every phone has its own provision URL, user name and password).

If you do not use RPS, please configure the provision URL under Global Parameter Settings-> Auto Provisioning URL, then once the phone power on, it will connect to the YMCS and then go to your provisioning sever to obtain the provision files (this scenario is suitable for the situation that all phones’ provision URL are the same).

 For the phones already been deployed:

 A)    For the phone which already has been deployed through auto provisioned except RPS, there are two steps to add them to YMCS.

1/Add the SN and MAC to the YMCS  

2/Add the below syntax to the existing provision files and then trigger the phone to do auto provision by different methods according to the PBX you use (Reboot/Resync/Over write etc.).

What’s more, you can also push enterprise information and site ID to phones through auto provision by pushing corresponding parameter.

 

Parameter for YMCS:

For enterprise: dm.enterprise_id=xxxx (your enterprise ID)

For site: dm.site_id=xxxx(your site ID)

 

If the ID of enterprise and site are right, the phone goes to corresponding enterprise and site.

If the ID of enterprise is correct, but site is wrong, the phone goes to its root site. (the root site is the site named after your company name, it’s the default site)

If the ID of enterprise is wrong, but site is right/wrong/left blank, then the phone will not go to anywhere. (if the phone is added by other enterprise, it will keep the original ownership)

 

Parameter for YDMP

dm.site_id=xxxxx (your site ID)

if users push enterprise ID to phone, YDMP will not accept, the enterprise goes by default where it belong.(YDMP doesn’t support change enterprise)

If site ID is correct, the phone goes to corresponding site.

If the site ID is wrong or left blank, new phones will go to root site, phone already in use will keep the original ownership.

 
B)    For the phone which already has been deployed through RPS, there are three steps to add them to YMCS (please refer to FAQ’’ How to migrate RPS data to YMCS’’ for more detail).

Steps:

Firstly, login YMCS account, and Choose RPS Management-> RPS setting

Secondly, Check the status of “RPS account binding” as “Unbound” and click binding, then 

fill the Username and Password of your RPS account. The data of RPS will be migrated to YMCS in the page of “RPS Device list” after successful binding.

Lastly, please choose the phone you want in the list, and then make the Sync.
