Usually the LCD screen of IP phone may prompt the message “Allow Remote Control?”, just as below screen shows.

What kind of operation will trigger this pop-up interface and how to disable it?

For security reasons, IP phones do not handle HTTP/HTTPS GET requests by default, if the remote party want to control IP phone, the phone LCD screen will prompt the message “Allow Remote Control?” for the first time, only after you press “OK” key on the phone, it will allow to be remote controlled.

What kind of operation will trigger this pop-up interface?

1. When the IP phone receives a GET request from the trusted IP address for the first time

2. When the IP phone receives a SIP NOTIFY message with the “Event: ACTION-URI” header from a SIP proxy server for the first time

3. When you place a call via web user interface for the first time

How to control the phone directly without asking “Allow Remote Control”?

It’s available to configure via auto provision with parameter: features.show_action_uri_option =0/1

If it is set to 0 (Disabled), the phone will not pop up the Allow Remote Control prompt when receiving an HTTP or HTTPS GET request, or receiving a SIP NOTIFY message with the “Event: ACTION-URI” header. The phone will directly perform the specified action.

Note: It only ask the authorization for the first time using this feature, if you press “OK”, to allow remote control, it won’t ask again while the second trigger remote control.
